A Key West Story Walk
Wait For Me
In 1898 Key West, a woman waits for the return of the man she loves, sent to Havana aboard the USS Maine, until a distant explosion shatters certainty and leaves only hope. Set against the streets and shorelines of Old Town Key West, Wait For Me is an intimate, place-based audio walking story that asks how long the heart can hold on when history intervenes.
Written and narrated by Key West novelist H.A. Scott.
A Key West Story Walk
A Gilded Night
Across the lantern-lit streets of Old Town Key West, the doors of grand houses open for a night of music, wealth, and quiet power.
From one glittering gathering to the next, a single woman moves through the celebrations—each doorway carrying her deeper into a night that will change everything.
Written and narrated by Key West novelist H.A. Scott.
A Key West Story Walk
Tell Me Not To
As Henry Flagler’s railroad races toward the island city of Key West, laborer James Soren spends his days helping build one of the most ambitious projects the world has ever seen. But in the middle of roaring machinery and endless miles of track, he meets a woman who makes the monumental work around him seem suddenly very small.
And he begins to wonder which holds more power: a great man’s ambition…or a kiss stolen in the night.
Written and narrated by Key West novelist H.A. Scott.
What to Know Before You Walk
What is a Story Walk?
A Story Walk is an immersive audio story designed to unfold as you walk through real places.
Each Story Walk is written specifically for the streets of Key West, where many locations of the story still exist in some form today.
Using your phone and headphones, you listen to the narration while moving through the streets where the story takes place. Locations, directions, and photographs are included in each Story Walk's Companion Guide so you can move through the experience at your own pace.
Think of it as stepping inside a short novel — one place at a time.
How long does a Story Walk take?
Most Story Walks take between 2 and 2.5 hours, including time to pause, explore, and take in the surroundings along the way. Think of it as a calm morning or afternoon spent inside a story.
There’s no schedule and no rush. The experience unfolds at whatever pace feels right to you and can be paused and returned to at any time.
Can I do a Story Walk alone?
Absolutely. Story Walks are designed to be experienced solo as easily as with a companion.
Many people enjoy walking alone with the story unfolding in their headphones, moving at their own pace and lingering wherever the moment invites them to. Others choose to walk with a partner or friend and listen together.
However you experience it, the pace is entirely your own.
Do I have to be in Key West to enjoy a Story Walk?
While all Story Walks are written specifically for the streets of Key West, the experience can also be enjoyed from anywhere.
Each Story Walk's included Companion Guide contains photographs of each location, along with the same directions and visual cues used during the physical walk. As you listen, you can follow the journey chapter by chapter, seeing the waterfront, streets, and landmarks where the story takes place.
For those planning a future visit to Key West, it can serve as a preview to the on-location walk.
What do I need for a Story Walk?
Just your phone and a pair of headphones.
Story Walks are designed to be simple to use and self-paced. If you can listen to audio on your phone, you’re ready to begin. The audio and Companion Guide can be downloaded in advance so you can walk and listen without needing a constant internet connection.
As with any time spent walking around Key West, it’s wise to bring water, wear comfortable shoes, and dress for the weather. The experience is unhurried, so you’re always free to pause, find a bit of shade, and continue when you’re ready.
